After medical school, I specialized in Family Medicine because I was attracted to taking care of the "whole patient" and developing long-term relationships with them.
Unfortunately, our health care system focuses on disease management instead of creating and restoring health. I was taught very little about nutrition and the role of stress and our environment on our health, even though the majority of chronic diseases are related to lifestyle. I found myself not wanting to prescribe yet another pill to treat a symptom instead of getting to the root cause of disease. I wanted to spend more time with my patients and help give them the tools they need to heal and become well.
After completing the world renowned
fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, I have the knowledge and experience to help guide my patients on their own path to wellness.
